Pumpkin Patch

I keep thinking I'll have a moment of time to sit down and journal some cute tidbits about the girls but there just hasn't been time. I was so overwhelmed this month with DST stuff and housework that I told myself while Kenna was in school on Wednesday, Erick and I would buckle down and really deep-clean the apartment (you all know how overwhelmed I feel if my apartment is not clean!) And then I woke up sick that morning. D'oh! Thankfully, Erick did a lot of straightening up while I rested and around 2pm, I woke up and started to feel a lot better. So I did do a lot of cleaning that night and I feel much more in control of life again! Clean house, stocked fridge, dinner menu plan. Phew! That's more like it! And even better then that, I've finally accepted the help of some of the wonderful people at DST who offered it! I've now got an assistant administrator and 3 moderators who are helping me with some of the busy work at DST (thanks Ripal, Julie, Laura and Grace!!) I'm thinking I might bring on an assistant admin for the gallery too. Maybe I can get my to-do list down to a manageable level again!

Anyway, we're gearing up for Halloween here. McKenna is going to be a lady bug and Kyla is going to be a butterfly. I'm not wild about the idea of putting her in one of Kenna's old costumes (just doesn't seem fair) but if Kenna is gonna be a lady bug then it would be so cute for Kyla to be some sort of girly bug too, wouldn't it? And since we already have the butterfly costume and it fits her..... So our plan is to have chili at home and then head across the street early for the church Harvest Festival (that's the Christianized version of a Halloween celebration) and then we'll trick-or-treat in the surrounding neighborhood for an hour or so. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm glad Erick is off that night so we can have fun as a family!

We took the girls to the Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday. We had a blast! They have a whole bunch of bounce houses, kiddie rides, pony rides, petting zoo, etc. McKenna went on several bounce houses and then for the first time, Kyla got to participate too. She had her first pony ride and her first visit to the petting zoo. You can see pics here.

Oh, I forgot to mention that McKenna DID get to have her school pictures taken after all! When I wrote to the director to see about getting a refund, she said "Why not just have McKenna come on Thursday?" Turns out, they take school photos all 3 days of the week AND a class photo each of the days as well in case any kids miss it. McKenna only goes 2 days a week but since we missed Wednesday, they said it was no problem to bring her on Thursday instead. Woohoo! So she got to wear her cute little outfit after all.

Now I am bound and determined to "clock out" and scrap something. Tomorrow we have McKenna's dance class. When I tucked her in tonight we had this conversation:

McKenna: "Mom, I don't know how to do a pwee-ay" (plie)
Me: "Well, tomorrow we can ask Miss Valerie, ok??"
McKenna: "Oh, she knows??"
Me: "Yep, she knows how!"
McKenna: "Oh. Mom? I'm Miss Valerie. Am I beautiful?"
Me: "Yes, you're very beautiful."
McKenna: "Thanks. Here, smell my feet."

LOL! Crazy kid!

LOL about your conversation with McKenna- toooo cute! Rachel finally figured out how to do a plie- she used to bend her knees forward, but now she makes the diamond. :) She's all ready for Halloween if she's got that "smell my feet" line down LOL!

Glad you're getting some much needed help at DST! It's just gonna keep getting bigger and bigger! I know it's hard to delegate sometimes- because you have to take the time to show someone how to do it, but it definitely is worth it in the long run. :)

God bless!

Your girls are to cute. It is amazing to me how much Kyla looks like your side of the family.

I am with you on the clean house and fridge stocked. How did we live when we were teenagers? Why did it not bother us?
